S.b (Server Benchmark) was written to allow administrators and power users to further leverage a burn in process for server, VM’s, and desktop hardware.  S.b has several very powerfull features aand can be used to processors and memory.

  • To run S.b, simply double click on the .exe.
  • If you would like to allow S.b to dynamically choose how many threads to use, set the value of the text box to the left of ‘SET Threads’ to 0 [zero].
  • To start the processor benchmark or burn-in process, click on ‘START p’.
  • After clicking on ‘START p’, you will see how many threads have been dispatched and how many increments per second are processed.
  • To start the utilizing the array and writing data to memory, key in any random text or number in the second text box right above ‘chars in length’.

This code is not to test how fancy the video card is or what version of direct x happens to be on the pc or server.  This benchmark is for those of you that want to push their memory and processing resources to the max and keep it there for a predefined amount of time.  Burn in your builds, don’t fluff around.  This benchmark also works great as a counterpart to our i/o performance analysis tool. Especially for benchmarking your vmware or citrix farms.

In my opinion, it’s good to have a place to concatenate possible outages but it’s not worth it. It’s actually fluff. Perhaps in random third world nations where people are still using 14k dial up modems and can’t seem to download flash or high resolution images but that’s about it and its completely lame. In all seriousness, something that has spawned from an initiative from Harvard should be much better coordinated. Overall, nobody seriously cares if somebody in France can access facebook or twitter. That has no overall play or economic impact on the rest of the world or politics as a whole. Perhaps china is blocking data, but not Malaysia. Come on. spend your R&D money elsewhere HerdictWeb – you are not a vigilantly, but a moron. Wait- This project is funded by Harvard University? Doh! FAIL!

Case and point! Cheers!

[Update]

  • I tried to report a inaccessible website to herdictweb but herdict.org was down. Now what do I do? Somebody please help me!
  • The entire website is only worth $76 dollars and has an alexa ranking of 1,310,033. Outstanding, especially since china dropped them which is always funny!

What do you think of when somebody says the word ‘user virtualization’? Most would say AppSense right? Apparently not frinds. There is an alternative in the user virtualization space and they happen to be OpenSource.

www.slyadmin.com offers a very low cost alternative to user virtualization to corporate customers and an open source version to the educational sector. We had to get our hands on this product and seeing it runs several different database platforms (sql, mysql, oracle, sybase) any effort was worth it. And trust me, it took some efforts to get this startup company to give us a spin. If you happen to contact them, keep at it because this product is awesome and their website is relatively new and evolving.

In the next few days, we will demo the user virtualization product by www.slyadmin.com.   I honestly believe this product not only stands up to the hype, but also stays true to the open source model. User virtualization at its best and without all the fluff!

Here is a quick caprure of our first launch of the product. I am so completely excited about this product and to be completely honest - I truly dig thir ability to boast the product as low cost alternative to corporations looking to further leverage their vmware, citrix, and xenapp infrastructure with seamless user virtualization and complete entity control! Cheers SlyAdmin! Good work!

Please check back as we take this great opportunity to work on a relatively new product dealing very effectively with user virtualization.
