java error xenapp advanced configuration
by admin on Feb.15, 2010, under XenApp
While installing XenApp 5.0 we got the following error message:
Citrix XenApp Components Installation: The correct version of java runtime environment (JRE) is not detected on your system. The installation of Citrix licensing and XenApp Advanced Configuration requires the installation of at least JRE 1.6.0 Update 5, which you can obtain from Sun Microsystems at … your XenApp installation is explicitly looking for update 5 so be sure to download the exact JRE version. Apparently if you attempt to update to a newer version, it will still present you with this error.
How to fix:
This problem can easibly be addressed by downloading and isntalling the 32 bit version of JRE 1.6.0. We installed Update 18 and we were able to access the Citrix XenApp Advanced Configuration console without any issues.
Thoughts:
- Frankly, its annoying that you need to drop down to a 32 bit version of Java when a 64 bit version is available. We try to stay as native to the 64 bit environment as possible. Now we have both a 32 bit and a 64 bit version of Java 6 Update *.
- If you are like us, you probably bypassed the inital msi error and installed XenApp with intentions of comming back and correcting the Advanced Configuration piece.
- .\Administration\XenApp Advanced Configuration\cmc.msi is where you can find the msi. Simply double click to install.
