show desktop quick launch settings

In the event you receive a requirement to remove the “show desktop” icon from the “quick launch” toolbar, here is how you remove. And in the event you need it back we will also provide you with the information on how to add again.

Removing from all profiles on the server or workstation:

1. From command prompt cd over to the root of your drive (where profiles are stored)
2. Type in the following command: del “desktop.lnk” /s /q
   1. Note: the above command will require admin access to purge the lnk file from all profiles on the ts or citrix server.
3. Type in the following command via command prompt: del “show deskktop.scf” /s /q
   1. Note: the above command will require admin access to purge the quick launch shortcut from all profiles on the ts or citrix server.

Should you need to recreate the “show desktop” icon on the “quick launch” toolbar, here is how you add it back:

1.  Click start > run, type notepad > and then click OK.
   1. key in the following:
   2. [Shell]
      Command=2
      IconFile=explorer.ex e,3
      [Taskbar]
      Command=ToggleDesktop
   3. Now save as “show desktop.scf” to > C:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\SHOW DESKTOP.SCF
