xenapp server metric alert
by admin on Feb.10, 2010, under XenApp, metrics
As described in the Access Management Console under the Alerts sub item…
- A configured server metric has exceeded either the warning or error threshold for a sufficient duration to cause an alert to be generated. You can view and configure the warning and error thresholds for the affected metric, and see the length of time for which they have been exceeded, in the Citrix Access Management Console. Other Information: For explanations of the various server metrics and advice on customizing them, refer to the Citrix Presentation Server Administrator’s Guide and the Microsoft Windows Help for Performance Monitor. For information on how to configure the server metrics in the Citrix Access Management Console, refer to Monitoring Server Performance with Citrix Presentation Server.

A little about metrics and trending via your Xenapp access management console.
- Metrics (warnings, errors), depending on how they are configured can come in a high frequency throughout the day and sometimes they do not reveal information that is easy to understand.
- For instance, its almost common to see warnings and errors under the counter % Interrupt Time (_Total) appear for brief instances. Unless you see these appear for prolonged time frames, it is considered to be normal and assumed activity.

- If you see an error or warning that you want to further investigate, simply double click on the error to expand the server health (metrics), then click on the actual warning or error.

- Upon double clicking on your alert from the AMC and expanding the server health, you have the opportunity to generate a graph, by clicking on “Generate graph” under Tasks

- After you click on generate graph, you will see a visual representation of the data.

- as you can see in the graph above, there is some serious paging going on with a server.
